Summary

As far as manga is concerned (technically manhwa in this case),The Greatest Estate Developeris something special. No other series seems to land the types of jokes this one does and no other protagonist has as wide a range of facial expressions as Lloyd Frontera does.

Granted, in terms of an actual story,it’s relatively typical of an isekai, but the characters, style, tone, and overall feeling ofThe Greatest Estate Developerare what’s really important. So, with that in mind, is there anything else that can even be compared to it? Quite a bit actually, though none of the series down below are a 1:1 match, all of them absolutely have something that most fans of the Greatest Estate Developer would likely enjoy.

Return of the Mount Hua Sect

10Return of the Mount Hua Sect

One of the Least Tranquil People Has to Save the Sect Known For its Tranquility

First up is a story calledReturn of the Mount Hua Sect. For anyone familiar with Wuxia-type stories, there are a couple of common ‘clans’ or ‘sects’ that tend to pop up in a lot of these stories. Sects like the Shaolin Sect, Wudang Sect, Tang Sect, and of course the Mount Hua Sect are just a few of the repeat Sects that typically appear in stories set in the Murim. This first manhwa is about the Mount Hua Sect, as should be obvious by the name, but the main character of this story doesn’t at all match the ‘peaceful’ vibe that someone from a sect named after peach blossoms would expect.

Chung Myung was the best blade of the Mount Hua Sect, perhaps in the entire world, but hedied at the end of his battleagainst the leader of the Demonic Cult. Now he’s been reborn far into the future of this battle, only to find that his beloved sect is now almost entirely extinct.Return of the Mount Hua Sectis a hilarious story of a truly ‘out of his mind’ martial master doing whatever he can to save the Mount Hua Sect.

Return of the Crazy Demon

9The Return Of The Crazy Demon

A Story With One of the Only Truly Unpredictable Protagonists

Return of the Crazy Demonis next on the list purely because both the main character for this story and the one forGreatest Estate Developerare absolutely bonkers. Granted, the ‘Crazy Demon’ is assuredly more out of his mind, as that’s kind of his whole thing, but it’s not like Lloyd is all that far from him.

Lee Jaha is the protagonist of this story, and he’s just an absolute delight to have as the main character. Not only is it 100 percent impossible to tell what he’s going to do next in any individual chapter, but Jaha is genuinely just funny when interacting with other people. While the setting for this story is a bit overdone, the characters and writing style absolutely set this manhwa apart from the rest.

Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint

8Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint

Earth is Now a Gameshow For the Constellations

When it comes to manhwa recommendations,ORVorOmniscient Reader’s Viewpointis just about on every list out there. While this story is a lot less of a ‘comedy’ than most of the other series on here, both this andGreatest Estate Developerare fantastic at writing banter between people.

The way Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk constantly bicker with each other is so incredibly similar to how Lloyd and Javier bicker with each other. Plus both stories feature a protagonist who technically knows the standard ‘ending’ of the world they’re in as well as all the in-depth info about all the characters around them.

FFF Class Trash Hero

7FFF-Class Trash Hero

A Story About Having to Save the World Again Because You Were Too Ruthless the First Time Around

Moving on to a story where the ‘hero’ or ‘protagonist’ of the story is anything but heroic,FFF-Class Trash Hero. This is a story thatfollows all the same standard isekai tropes, a hero summoned from another world gains a party and fights against the Demon King. However, this hero truly has an abhorrent personality and even went so far as to kill his comrades just before the fight with the Demon King because he saw the opportunity to do so and found them to be a hindrance.

After he beats the Demon King, the ‘god’ of this world appears to grade him on his performance, which of course he absolutely failed due to his treatment of other people. So, as a result, the ‘god’ punishes him by sending him back to the first day to do it all over again. The humor inFFF-Class Trash Heromay not be to everyone’s taste, but it does have a similar ‘over-the-top’ style to its comedy and its main character is also commonly seen for the horrifying person that he is.

A Modern Man Who Got Transmigrated To A Murim World

6A Modern Man Who Got Transmigrated Into The Murim World

Fixing the Economics, Hygiene, and Workforce of a Murim World

Next up is a series that matchesThe Greatest Estate Developerin regards to a modern person bringing modern sensibilities to an old-fashioned fantasy world, and it’s calledA Modern Man Who Got Transmigrated into the Murim World. While Lloyd Frontera brings his vast amount of engineering and architectural knowledge to a fantasy medieval-esque world, Jo Hwi brings his vast amount of modern economic knowledge into a Murim world.

So, for those who like seeing a team using magic to craft an apartment building in an era where castles are commonplace, like inGreatest Estate Developer, thenaMMWGTitMW(what a title) will also be a fun read for them. While the humor in this series isn’t quite as ‘over-the-top’ as in GED, it’s still very well-written and still very funny.

Love Advice From The Great Duke of Hell

5Love Advice From The Great Duke Of Hell

One of the Only Other Series On Here To Rival Greatest Estate Developer In It’s Ridiculousness

Out of all the series on this list, this next one probably fits the genre of a ‘dumb comedy’ the most.Love Advice From The Great Duke of Hellis not a manwha, it’s not a manga, it’s a webcomic or webtoon created by an artist known as Unfins. In this story, a young kid gets into demonic magic and all sorts of taboo arts in order to summon a great Demon of Hell known as Astaroth. And Astaroth, impressed by the boy’s ability to summon him, offers to grant him a portion of his power in exchange for the boy’s soul. However, the boy isn’t looking for power, rather, he wants to know how to reach the heart of his crush, Elena.

That’s right, a high school kid summoned a Duke of Hell to help him figure out a way to get his crush to like him. If the pure absurdity of that is in any way funny to you, then this is a perfect series to read, as that’s very low on the list of absurdly funny things that happen in this webtoon.

SSS Class Suicide Hunter

4SSS-Class Suicide Hunter

Kim Gonja Truly Is Every Bit As Ridiculous As Lloyd Frontera

This is a personal favorite of ours, and one that a lot of people even go so far as to read the original Light Novel of,SSS-Class Suicide Hunter. When it comes to pure arrogance and self-confidence, it might seem impossible to have Lloyd Frontera beat, but Kim Gonja might just do it. Of course, anyone currently readingSSS-Class Suicide Huntermay not see the comparison, but the further they get along in the story the more this comparison becomes apt.

Outside of the main characters, the similarities between these two series are few and far between, but both have a lot of hilarious moments (thoughSSS-Class Suicide Hunterhas a lot more romance) bouncing off of other characters. Plus, both protagonists are putting their entire being into getting the absolute best endings for everyone they care about, which is where a lot of the strife of these stories typically comes from.

Main characters standing in a line in The Eminence In Shadow

3The Eminence In Shadow

A Series About a Protagonist Whose Greatest Dream is to Be a Side Character

Now compared to a lot of other manga/anime on here, this next one is probably the furthest fromThe Greatest Estate Developeroverall. However, the absolute gut-busting comedic heights thatThe Eminence in Shadowcan reach in its funniest moments is worth comparison toThe Greatest Estate Developer. Additionally, both main characters are isekai ‘reincarnators’ who are reborn as total ‘side characters’ and go on to achieve world-changing feats not long after.

However, while Lloyd Frontera spends a lot of time turning the reputation around of the character he was reincarnated as, Cid Kagenou is ecstatic to be a ‘mob character’ and wants nothing more than for him to always be seen as one, which is where a lot of the actual comedy ofEiScomes in.

Delicious In Dungeon

2Delicious In Dungeon

A Comedy With An Absurd Amount Of World-Building

The next series on here was actually lucky enough to recently (at the time of writing this) get a Netflix adaptation,Delicious in Dungeon(AKADungeon Meshi). Honestly, while luck was involved,Delicious in Dungeonabsolutely earned an adaptation as it manages to be one of the most compelling dungeon-crawling settings, one ofthe most well-established fantasy worlds, and is also many people’s favorite comedy series to read.

While the styles of humor in this series andThe Greatest Estate Developerdiffer quite a bit, both series are so incredibly funny overall and love to play with the idea of ‘pure absurdity’ pretty often.

Mashle Magic And Muscles

1Mashle: Magic & Muscles

When You’re Literally Too Buff For Magic School

Last up isMashle: Might and Magic, and this series about buffHarry Potterwas always going to be on here, as it’s one of the most popular comedic series of the generation. Again, likeDungeon Meshi, the type of humor thatMashleuses is pretty different fromThe Great Estate Developer’s, but that’s not all a comparable series needs to have to be on this list.Mashleis a show with great characters, a lot of internal worldbuilding, great fight scenes, a main character who constantly does ridiculous things, and the author constantly uses over-the-top facial expressions to drive the absurdity of the situation home.
