ButThe Legend of Zeldaisn’t all about Zelda, either. Various allies help Zelda and Link on their journey to rid Hyrule of an overarching evil, including some incredibly strong women. The same goes for those trying to harm the land, with villains like Twinrova and Cia causing havoc with their almost unstoppable power. Overall,The Legend of Zeldafeatures incredibly tough and fierce women who will stop at nothing to achieve their goals.
10Nabooru
Second in command of the Gerudo tribe inThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Nabooru attempts to rebel against its leader Ganondorf. However, this only gets her so far, as she is soon brainwashed by the twin witches Kotake and Koume, otherwise known as Twinrova. Once Link defeats the evil witches and Nabooru is freed, she becomes the Sage of the Spirit.
Nabooru is one of the seven sages inOcarina of Time, each corresponding to elements. This includes Rauru (Light), Saria (Forest), Darunia (Fire), Ruto (Water), Impa (Shadow), Nabooru (Spirit), and their leader, Zelda. When their powers are combined, they can seal Ganondorf away.

9Ruto
Princess Ruto, the namesake of the Divine Beast Vah Ruta, guards the Water Temple underneath Lake Hylia inOcarina of Time. Link is tasked with saving the princess, who is believed to have been swallowed by Lord Jabu-Jabu. What seems like a stereotypical “Damsel in Distress” trope, Ruto’s predicament came from her dropping the Spiritual Stone of Water inside its mouth, and her courageously attempting to retrieve it.
Seven years after this event, she becomes the Sage of Water. She uses her courage and power to guard the Water Temple - a sacred place for her people, the Zora.

8Mipha
Mipha, Princess of the Zora, is one of the four Champions inThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildand is tasked with piloting the Divine Beast Vah Ruta. While Mipha had a quiet and kind demeanor, she was a formidable fighter, having trained with the Lightscale Trident - a weapon forged by Dento when she was born.
Aside from proving herself worthy of piloting Vah Ruta in the treacherous Divine Trial, Mipha could also heal wounds throughan ability known as Mipha’s Grace. She would later pass this ability on to Link after defeating Waterblight Ganon and freeing her spirit from Vah Ruta.

7Princess Hilda
Princess Zeldaisn’t the only member of royalty inThe Legend of Zeldafranchise. She has a dark counterpart in the land of Lorule, Princess Hilda. While Hilda is technically another version of Zelda, she’s more of a character in her own right. Although Hilda doesn’t possess the power of the Goddess Hylia, she can telepathically communicate with Link as Zelda does.

First introduced inThe Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past, she is a strong leader who will stop at nothing to save her kingdom – even if that means double-crossing Link to steal Hyrule’s Triforce. Hilda later redeems herself by acknowledging her mistakes and giving back the Triforce to Link and Zelda.
6Impa
Like Princess Zelda, there are many incarnations of Impa inThe Legend of Zeldafranchise. Though she usually acts as a guardian or nurse to Zelda, Impa is intelligent and skilled in combat as a member of the Sheikah tribe. The Sheikah have been guardians of the Goddess Hylia for decades and watch over her descendants. Each version of Impa has to balance protecting Zelda, guiding Link, and keeping a watchful eye on Demise and Ganondorf.
While there are countless versions of Impa, her strongest incarnations appear inHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity,Ocarina of Time, andThe Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

5Urbosa
Gerudo Chief and Champion Urbosa had the power to control lightning,an ability demonstrated further inHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. This power would be known as Urbosa’s Fury, which the spirit of Urbosa would later give Link after defeating Thunderblight Ganon inBreath of the Wild.
Aside from Urbosa’s powers, she used her incredible skills as a warrior to defend her tribe. Fighting with her prized Scimitar of the Seven and the Daybreaker shield, she proved her worth in the Divine Trial to pilot Divine Beast Vah Naboris.

4Midna
As the true ruler of the Twii, Princess Midna is bestowed with many magical powers. As shown inThe Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Midna can create portals and energy fields, walk through walls, and shapeshift, among many other powers.
WhileMidna’s design came before the development ofTwilight Princess, she is one of the most integral characters in the game as the titular Twilight Princess. Both in her true and shadow form, she is the only one who can destroy the Mirror of Twilight and therefore defeat Zant.

3Cia
The dark witch, Cia, is the main antagonist inHyrule Warriors, having been split from her light half, Lana, by Ganondorf. The more she is divided from Lana, the more corrupted and powerful Cia becomes, making her a formidable foe. Cia was initially tasked with preserving the balance of the Triforce, but due to her jealousy of Link and Zelda’s relationship, she became more susceptible to Ganondorf’s tricks.
Cia has a multitude of powers showcased inHyrule Warriors, including dark magic, speed and agility, the power to bend time and space, and harnessing the Triforce of Power for a time.

2Twinrova
Composed of the twin witches Kotake and Koume,Twinrova has some of the best loreinThe Legend of Zeldafranchise. Individually, the 400-year-old witches are the Sorceress of Ice and the Sorceress of Flame, with their magic linked to the elemental power they possess. Twinrova is part of an attack called “Double Dynamite Attack” when the two sisters merge to become one being.
