Its cast of companion characters, including Astarion, Lae’zel, and others, are increasingly familiar even among non-players. But fewBaldur’s Gate 3players likely expected to find these characters of similar appearance in another game.

Dungeons and Dragonsis a game that prioritizes deep character relationships between players. WhileBaldur’s Gate 3can be played in multiplayer, Larian went to great effort to recreate the feeling of a full party by adding recruitable AI companion characters with rich stories and backgrounds. The work that went intoBaldur’s Gate 3’s roster of charactershad to be tremendous, and Larian’s been rewarded with critical acclaim as a result.

That’s why it has to be quite disappointing to see another game try and capitalize onBaldur’s Gate 3’s successby using its art, whichNevermore: Idle Immortal RPGallegedly did. An image being shared on Twitter shows that theNevermore: Idle Immortal RPGprofile on the Apple App Store features the key art forBaldur’s Gate 3with its characters' faces edited to a different appearance, perhaps using AI.

Despite the changes that have been made, the image itself is quite clearly theBaldur’s Gate 3key art. Astarion is shown with his hand reaching out and his other gripping a dagger.Lae’zel the Githyankistands behind him holding a lengthy two-handed sword. A third figure stands behind both of them, which would be Gale inBaldur’s Gate 3’s art. All three characters have had their faces and hair changed, though, with Astarion now a soft-faced young man, Lae’zel now with a full nose and pouty lips, and Gale unrecognizable.

It’s not rare to see mobile apps, particularly for games developed in various Asian regions where copyright laws are quite lax, to take other games' assets and use them as their own.Baldur’s Gate 3’s popularity has made it a ripe target for swiping art. At least in this case, the art has been edited and has made the situation hilarious. Few will stumble ontoNevermoreand believe it’s tied toBaldur’s Gate 3.

A search of the Apple App Store pulls up zero results forNevermore: Idle Immortal RPGat this time. The game allegedly changed its title toBalder War: Epic Immortal RPGafter its initial discovery and has since either changed its name again or has beenremoved from the App Store. It’s unlikely to face any repercussions from Larian or Apple. Regardless, bishonen Astarion copycat art is something allBaldur’s Gate 3players can appreciate for what it is.
