During the Nintendo Direct February 2022 showcase, plenty of first-party and third-party titles were shown coming to the Switch console, with a variety that appealed to many gamers. These include remakes and localizations of cult classic games, aMario Kart 8 DeluxeDLC pass, and some surprise announcements. One of these surprises wasFire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, aWarriorsfranchise spinoffthat takes place within an alternate timeline ofFire Emblem: Three Houses,with its house leaders Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude taking on a brand-new enemy.Much like otherWarriorsgames, this will take thecast ofFire Emblem: Three Housesand place them into a hack-and-slash action setting, where they can take on hordes of enemies all by themselves. Each of the characters revealed so far have their own distinct playstyle, which is dependent on the weapons they utilize. Edelgard of the Black Eagles uses an axe, Blue Lions leader Dimitri wields a lance, while Claude from the Golden Deer flies atop a mounted dragon and shoots enemies with his bow.RELATED:Second Fire Emblem Game Alongside Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes Could Release This YearThetrailer forFire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopesshowed off new timeskip designs for the House Leaders in the game, as well as a brand-new unnamed purple haired character. They can be seen facing off Byleth, where they manage to even destroy Byleth’s Sword of the Creator weapon near the end of the trailer. A few new screenshots have been released by Amazon JP, which imply that this purple haired sword user will be a playable character in the game.

This can be seen in part of the screenshot’s UI, where in the bottom left, the purple haired sword user can be seen selected and could be commanded to attack an enemy that is much higher on the map. The character can be seen again in the second screenshot provided, where they are off to the right-hand side, dining along with Blue Lions leader Dimitri. The screenshot also shows off that fellow Blue Lions classmateMercedes has a new alternate timeskip design, which seemingly indicates her status as a playable character as well.

The final screenshot show off a menu that will appear inFire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, which details the map and mission that the player will be taking on as well as rewards upon a victory, along with what seems to be an extra reward for getting an S-Rank on that map. These screenshots certainly open up some questions about potential playable characters, as well as the role that the new purple haired swordsman plays in the narrative of this game, which is sure to excite fans forThree Hopes' release later this summer.
