One of the biggest pullsElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtreehas for new and returning players is the promise ofbrand-new weapon typesthat don’t have an equivalent in any Soulsborne game to date. Among these are the Thrusting Shields, which are shields that work both defensively and offensively in one complete package.
Currently, there are only two types of Thrusting Shields in the game: theDueling Shieldand theCarian Thrusting Shield. Both can be found in the Shadow Keep, the third main area of the game, after defeating Rellana, Twin Moon Knight. Here are their locations.
Dueling Shield Location
From the Storehouse, First Floor Site of Grace, climb to the third floor using the stairs on the opposite end of the room, and you’ll reach a wooden bridge where you’ll be attacked by multipleShadow Militiamen. This is right next to the marble statue you need to climb to reach the next section. Look to the left, and you’ll notice a large open area that can be accessed by jumping onto a thin stone ramp attached to the bridge. Jump off the railing to the ramp, and you’ll find the Dueling Shield on a corpse behind the stone slabs to the right.
Dueling Shield can be upgraded to usingSmithing Stones to +25. It can be augment with spell-based and consumable buffs. It’s Ash of War can also be changed.

Carian Thrusting Shield
The Carian Thrusting Shield can be found in the same room as the Storehouse, Back Section Site of Grace. This area of the Storehouse is not accessible from the inside. Players will need to enter the Shadow Keep via the Church District elevator (an alternative entrance) that can be reached bygoing through Bonny Village.
From the Storehouse, Back Section Site of Grace, move past the ladder leading up to the Storehouse, Loft Site of Grace, and you’ll find an area with three Shadow Mages and a Fire Knight. The Carian Thrusting Shield is the purple item on the corpse at the far end of the room, guarded by the Fire Knight.
Carian Thrusting Shield can be upgraded to usingSomber Smithing Stones to +10. It can be augment with spell-based and consumable buffs. It’s Ash of War can also be changed.
