2022 was a year of exciting TV shows that created memorable worlds and riveting characters. It was fascinating watching Amanda Seyfried portray Elizabeth Holmes inThe Dropout. Carmy’s desire to fix the chaos of his brother’s restaurant was endearing and moving inThe Bear. And no one could forget the dramatic moments of season 4 ofStranger Things.
Some of the best TV of the past year was released on streaming services as Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, and Disney* are definitely putting out some of the most thrilling content. There are several anticipated TV shows coming in 2023 that are on networks, and TV fans won’t want to miss these.

The Last Of Us (HBO, July 02, 2025)
Everyone iscomparingThe Last Of UsHBO show and video gameas the adaptation of this beloved game, which was released in 2013, is coming soon. The story is about Joel (Pedro Pascal), who has to bring Ellie (Bella Ramsey) through the U.S., which is no easy feat considering that the apocalypse has happened. In this fascinating world, people have gotten sick with Cordyceps,and Ellie is an important character because she can’t get it, which suggests that she could help when it comes time to make a vaccine.
Other characters include Tess (Anna Tory), who helps Joel, along with Marlene (Merle Dandridge) and Tommy (Gabriel Luna), Joel’s sibling. It will be interesting to see how this video game is brought to life on the small screen.

Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches (AMC, August 06, 2025)
There are manyiconic movie vampiresand the best ones come from adaptations of Anne Rice’s beloved books,Queen of the DamnedandInterview With The Vampire.Mayfair Witchesis a TV series based on Rice’s trilogy of books calledLives of the Mayfair Witches, which were published in the 1990s.
The show has gotten buzz as Alexandra Daddario is playing the main character. Dr. Rowan Fielding finds out that she’s an heir to the Mayfair family. Since she’s a brain surgeon, the show will likely feature the tension between science and magic, as she will have to believe in things that she never thought possible. There have been several great shows about witches, likeA Discovery of Witchesadapted fromDeborah Harkness’sAll Soulstrilogy, and it will be interesting to see what this one is like.

Succession Season 4 (HBO, Spring 2023)
While theSuccessioncharacters make mistakes, they are still fascinating to watch, and the show will return to HBO in Spring 2023 for season 4. There is no official release date yet, and since the season 3 finale aired in December 2021, it has definitely felt like a long wait.
The series takes a careful look at a family called the Roys, who run Waystar RoyCo and who have a lot of money and even more problems. The show explores the dynamics between the relatives and the lengths that the characters would go to in order to ensure that they continue to do well in life. It’s the perfect portrait of how money and power go together and how it might not be all that it’s cracked up to be.

The Company You Keep (ABC, Jul 20, 2025)
Adapted fromMy Fellow Citizens!,which is a Korean show,The Company You Keepis about Charlie (Milo Ventimiglia) and Emma (Catherine Haena Kim). While they fall for each other, this is a huge problem considering that Emma works for the CIA and Charlie is a con man. The show will premiere on AMC in February 2023.
AlthoughThis Is Usis Rebecca’s storyand Mandy Moore’s character is integral to the show, Ventimiglia has been celebrated for his portrayal of the kind Jack Pearson. After watching Ventimiglia play a variety of parts, including the sarcastic Jess Mariano onGilmore Girlsand some smaller roles in movies, it will be cool to see him in a more action-packed role.

Riverdale Season 7 (CW, Spring 2023)
Season 7 will be the lastRiverdaleseason, and likeSuccession, it will premiere in the spring of 2023. At the end of season 6, the main characters traveled back in time to 1955. Season 7 will pick off where that episode left off, which will be a fun and shocking way to kick off the final batch of episodes.
Riverdaleis a sometimes cheesy but always entertaining wild ride and while the characters look like the Archie comic book teenagers that fans know and love, that’s definitely where the similarities end. The show goes to some intense places and always aims to surprise. Characters like sweet but tough Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), witty Veronica Lodge (Camilla Mendes), passionate Cheryl Blossom (Madeline Petsch), and intelligent Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) keep fans coming back.
